We left Kilmartin under heavy skies, making a farewell circle around the valley before driving off towards Oban. We detoured a few miles to cross a beautifully arched 18th century bridge that famously stretches across the Atlantic (or at least a small finger of it) to the island of Seil.
From Oban we caught the ferry that winds out through the islands towards the romantically named Castlebay at the bottom tip of the Outer Hebrides.
Can you see Kisimul Castle out in the bay? We will take a small boat out tomorrow morning to explore the castle before we start our journey up through the Hebridean island chain.
